My cup runeth over...
This season has been amazing and we have been so blessed.
It started with peaches, I bottles quarts of peaches, pints of peach salsa, peach fruit leather, frozen and peach jam. Peaches courtesy of the Halls.
Then came the apricots. Quarts of apricots, fruit leather, and jam. Apricots courtesy of my parents
Then the nectarines, jam, quarts, leather, from our tree.
Then Plums: Jelly, didn't know what else to do with them. they were from our tree.
Then peas, frozen peas out of our garden
Then tomatoes! Spicy Salsa, Medium Salsa, Cilantro Lime Salsa Verde, Spaghetti Sauce, V8 Juice, and Tomato base. Courtesy of our garden but the majority of the wonderful Woodburys.
Don’t forget the tomatillos. Processed canned, Cafe Rio dressing, Salsa from our garden.
Corn! I love corn on the cob, and we enjoyed it all summer long at our many BBQ’s and Seth might have snuck a few in between. We froze the left overs so I get to enjoy it the rest of the year.
Beans: I grew beans on our back chainlink fence and then froze them
Raspberries: Frozen and Jam our yard, but from plants Sister Whitney picked up for me, and Sister Allen gave me some starts too
Strawberries: didn’t get any this year but Sister Bennett shared starts and I should get some next year.
Zucchini and yellow squash: shredded, chunked and frozen from our garden and put in the spaghetti sauce.
Pumpkins, just check out our porch. However one of the pumpkins came from the pumpkin fairy. FD was worried that one of our pumpkins jumped the fence and started growing in the Mogel’s yard. But one day when it was bright and orange it jumped the fence and came back to our side. FD was so excited because she was sure it was the pumpkin fairy from Cornbellys. So later that afternoon we went out to pick grapes and the pumpkin fairy had left another big pumpkin in the grape vines! I wonder if that pumpkin fairy looks more like a tall thin BYU fan what do you think?
GRAPES!!! We have some grape vines, but I love grape juice, the Baugh boys love grape juice and our vines just don’t make enough. So Sister Roberts, Sister Gubler, Sister Mogel, and Sister Kratzer all shared their grapes with us! And sweet Sister Conners brought over some juice she had already canned because she wanted to share but had already processed them so she brought me the finished product. We got enough grape juice for 2 quarts a week for a full year!
Apples: was the last thing I canned this season. They turned into applesauce.
So if you stopped by anytime in the last few months I probably had something going on the stove and my kitchen was disaster, but I'm so excited for what I have to show for it.
Our shelves are full thanks to the generosity of our family, friends and neighbors and we couldn’t feel more blessed!
Not to mention all the wonderful people who stopped by with gifts, friendship and well wishes when we brought Christian home, and for Seth and FD's birthdays. The people who called, showed up to talk, watched the boys, and checked on us during our rough patch with FD.
The gift of Christian is a huge blessing for our family.
We've had a ton going on the last few months and couldn't have made it through if it wasn't for the support of those around us. Our family, friends and neighbors have been an amazing help and I can't thank you enough!
